First let me say that this topic is about an online shortlist site which is under development. I'm planning to use some kind of PLAYER TAGS to filter players. The site will be something like an online version of FMScout, but you will be searching players with tags instead of attribute values. The following quote is taken from the site i'm working on, and it briefly explains the idea behind it.

I have always found searching/filtering players by numbers unrealistic. The real managers do not have player profiles full of 40+ attribute values ranging from 0 to 20, do they? And they can't say, for example "find me some strikers with finishing over 17 and pace over 15 and bla bla bla... ". So i thought of an alternative way and once again the game itself gave the idea: player tags (not sure about the term though).

What is a tag?

A tag is a (relevant) keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information (like picture, article, or video clip), thus describing the item and enabling keyword-based classification of information it is applied to.

What is a player tag?

A player tag is a keyword based on some player attributes, thus describing the player by replacing these attribute values.

Football Manager game has a collection of these player tags, such as wonderkid, midfield playmaker, explosive winger, solid centreback, perfectionist, model professional, etc. However, these tags are more like cosmetic and do not allow you to search for all explosive wingers and such.

So how will these player tags be used?

After defining a set of player tags, each player will be assigned appropriate ones according to their attribute values. Once the tags are assigned, site users will be able to list all the players with a specific tag. So, it would be possible to make a seach like "young and cheap clinical strikers having EU-Nationality", in a way much like a real football manager would

The First Step

Defining player tags will be the first step to achieve this functionality. And we'll do so by discussing which tags should be used, which attributes and atrribute values shold they be based on, etc. So please post each of your your tag suggestions here or in this forum using the following example:

* Age: Under 21

This is just an example to give you an idea and not a decided tag. All proposed tags will be discussed and those that are found appropriate will be used.
