I've been playing as Man United for the first 3 seasons on 2007, and I've done reasonably well, winning a few things, but now I'm faced with a few player decisions.
To challenge in the league and in Europe, I need 2 quality goalkeepers. I've got Oscar Ustari, and sold Van Der Sar, Kuczscak and Foster, all because they started getting annoyed at not playing. Ustari is my main number one, but I can see him getting injured soon and I haven't really got any decent number 2. I have brought in Yoann Sommer who looks alright but how do people juggle having 2 top-quality goalkeepers in their side? I could rotate them, but I think they play better when they have a long run in the side, but then fate will conspire against me and injury them, leaving me with a weak point in my team.
In central defence, Vidic and Ferdinand have been awesome for me. In most games, they get 8's or 9's and are always being praised by media and other managers. However, Pique is starting to show his form, and when I've played him in cup games, he's got a 9 rating for his last 4 games. He's starting to win Spanish caps, and my coaches are telling me to play him. I'd like to give him more games, but Vidic and Ferdinand don't look like dropping their form anytime soon, and I wouldn't want either of them getting upset. I've read on here that Pique becomes really good but how have people coped with replacing Vidic/Ferdinand?
Up front, I have slight concerns with Tevez. His contract was about to run out last year and his status has been "willing to stay at the club currently" for about a year now. He was on £80,000 a week and I offered him a new deal at £100,000 and he kept on refusing for months (even though he only asked for £90,000). He eventually accepted a 1-year deal at £125,000, but his status still says "Willing to stay at the club currently" as if he's still unhappy. He is still scoring - his rate this season is 6 in 11, although last season it was 18 in 24 and the season before it was 31 in 40.
He's worth £24m and I have been debating for ages whether to sell him. I risked Offering him to Clubs (luckily, he stayed reasonably happy - there wasn't any negative effects), but no-one was interested! I even offered him at £14m and still no interest.
He's played regularly for me, and been one of the leading scorers in Europe for 2 years - what do I have to do to get interest? I was hoping to be swamped with bids.
Also, as a final question, I have a few players on loan with Antwerp waiting for work permits. They've been there 2 and a half years now. How will I know when they're ready? I can't see anything in their profile that says how far away they are.

Firstly this should probably go into the Man U thread in the good players forum. Regarding the players in Holland assuming your playing
fm08 it should tell you on there personal screen how long theyve been in a country and when they get there new passport.

I wasn't after Good Players. I was just after people's opinions about how they start to integrate their good young players into the starting 11 at the expense of established players like Ferdinand and Vidic, whilst minimizing the risk of upsetting any of them.
Also I am playing FM 2007 and it doesnt say how long they've got left for work permits.

Well, I thought Vidic was a better header (and attacker of the football) than Ferdinand, while Ferdinand was the taller of the two.
So, I've got Vidic attacking the near post at corners for a flick on, and Ferdinand attacking the far post to try and get onto that flick on.
Vidic scores about 5 from corners per season and Ferdinand about 2-3.
Last season, Vidic finished with 6 goals (one penalty as well) and Ferdinand on 3 (all headers).
Pique so far has played 31 times in 2 and a half seasons and scored 2 - one header from a corner and one normal shot.
I think Vidic and Ferdinand are better at heading, both defensively and attacking-wise, than Pique, and I'd definitely miss their presence at corners, but Pique's overall form is hard to ignore.
It's a tough decision.
I momentarily considering playing 3 at the back, but my attacking full-backs (Daniel Alves, and Evra) are really strong and add a lot to my game, so I'd like to keep them.

Just keep them all for a while and see how it turns out. Piqué has great height, jumping and heading, so you'll find his heading at corners almost on par with Vidic and Rio. Of course, he doesn't have as much experience (I'm thinking positioning, concentration, etc.), so he probably won't score as much, but he'll still be a dangerous assets at corners. And defensively, he's just brilliant.
I know rotating your backline is generally a bad idea, but you might consider giving Piqué some starts at the expense of Vidic, but still keep Vidic your main man. If Piqué starts to complain, you might want to consider some of the numerous bids you're bound to receive. Barça usually makes the highest bids, and if you reject them he'll often get unsettled anyway. So if you don't see another option, sell him for a load of money. Otherwise, try to hang on to all of them if possible.

"Willing to stay at the club currently"
| The answer lies just above these words.
Currently means just that. "For the moment", or even "for the time being".
It's known that Carlos wants to end his career back in Argentina with the club he started with. Hth.

Quick Question, how do you get your strikers to score goals?
80% of my goals come from Midfielders while 10% comes from defenders and corners. My strikers are weak. Rooney tended to score quite a bit at the begining, scoring 3-4 goals a match, but now he's just not scoring. And tevez doesn't seem to know where the goal is....
