you know whats the diffrence why books nd writers where better before, then now? because lets say Tolkin was dreamin, thinking about, writing his books for 5 or more years. then you have quality. when you take time, when its not all about money.
today you have very good writers, but noone would remember, for example, Stephen King in 100 years. why? because he makes few books per year!! of course he has skills in writing, but his books would be much better, if he take longer period for makin really good 1.
you have other examples, like Daniel Day Lewis in movies, he make just 1 movie in 5 years, but his role is brilliant.

why SI, if they love so this game, take lets say 2-3 years. and make 1 and really really great manager? why they dont spend 2 years just to think how to solve regens problem? and other things? why? ill tell you why. m.o.n.e.y.

jet li made three cracking films in one year back in the 90's.
iron maiden were releasing cracking albums every year back in the 80's i'm sure.

I think it is impossible to make those type of comparisons e.g books/films v games, but i may try..

FM has come under a lot of stick this year and even the press didn't praise the game in their usual manner. Some saying that this was more an enhancement than a new iteration of FM.

That said the game is still by far the best type of it's genre. As a long time player and a long term fan blah blah I also get disappointed but like authors/actors some books are better than others they have written, some films the actor is better in than others.

This one well it's still worth a read or a watch and I am enjoying the game. Maybe I am nor looking for perfection and yes I know there's still flaws...

Corners are pretty ridiculous on this version, not sure why it seems to be they sort out one problem and create another in doing so!

Here's hoping the 'new' batch of patches next week look into sorting the error.

I dont see why defenders scoring so much would be a problem. One season, a defender of mine scored 20 goals. But that was because he was my free kick and penalty taker and he rarely missed.

Defenders scoring over 20 headers from corners every season is a problem.

i would say for a top class goalscoring CB they should get at most about 6 goals in a season. obviously it could be more could be less.
with penalties you add a few more.

20 goals from heading in corners is alot but i dont think it would ever get that far for me.

It seems that there may well be a "cheat" out there for defenders with certain stats to score a lot of goals from set pieces. Much like when the diablo tactic came about, we'll have a look at it, and look to close the loophole in the long run, although I must say that this is a very hard cheat to use, as it does require certain skills in defenders. I tried to use it with my normal team in my saved game, and it had little to no effect. Cheats are available for most games, and if you want the best out of any game, the thing to do is avoid using them.

Some of the posting on this forum is getting ridiculous. As Ian Holloway said in his column on the BBC this week, we're going to be blamed for the Titanic sinking next.

Kriss - whilst I agree with your sentiments, just one thing to point out. Marc hasn't really been working on FM for some time either, as he was working on Eastside and OOTP before FML.
