I have decided to go against the grain in FM07. I am playing long ball football in the Premier league with Liverpool. I have tried it at all levels with Woking, Darlington and West Brom and seems to be a pretty useful tactic.
I suppose it's a cross between Arsenals counter attacking and chelsea's resilant defending.
Here goes. My team setting are as follows.
Normal 442 with mid attacking farrows on wingers. All the instructions are team instruction, no individual settings.
Ment = 10 Normal, never changes.
CF = 1 the lowest (helps to create a good unit)
Tempo, first notch to slow at home, and 20 the highest when playing away.
Passing = Long.
Width, Wide at home 20 the highest, and first notch to narrow away or against big teams.
Closing down, 20 the highest, never changes (to all players)
Time wasting, 10, never changes
Defensive line, Home, first notch to high, away = sometimes first notch to deep, but mainly nornam, 10.
Tackling = Normal.
Man Marking, all team.
Tick Target Man, always have target man on "run onto the ball", because of the ball being hit over the top by your defenders.
Tick Playmaker
Counter Attack on away matches only.
I set down the flanks at home, and through the middle away.
I then assign EVERY player to "Try through ball often", except the goalie. Take away crossing, all crossing on normal.
I have found this is a good stable tactic, especially with the bigger teams, You don't or should conceed alot of goals, and you will catch your opposing team on the counter because of the long ball every time.
I have had successes with Woking using the tactic. Whilst playing with Liverpool it has created the most wonderful fluid passing and counter attacking football, which dominates teams and scores heeps of goals.
I hope you all try it, and have success, this is my first tactical post! So please be nice.
I will try and post the home and away tactics soon as, if people want me too and are having problems.

Long ball premier league! winning formula. Post #2
Well I would say watching your team play good football and winning leagues and cups!
The idea with this tactic is to stop the other teams playing. if your banging long balls up to your strikers, they can't get hold of it and dominate the midfield. The idea about giving all your players "Often through balls" is they don't spend to much time on the ball, especially in away matches with counter attack on, let your strikers do the running.
The idea of playing slower at home, give you players more time on the ball to pick their long passes up front. Obviously the better teams will try and rush you into your passes, but that doesn't seem to be the case, you decided whether you want to play slow or fast against chelsea or Man U.
I am not into the science of the game, it just works and works well. I suppose becuase it my tactic, I will get more out of it, but someone might be able to develop it further and get something out of it for themselves.
I am not saying I have found anything special, teams like West Brom and Liverpool! I can here people saying already, any monkey have have success with those teams.
All I am doing is posting my tactic which I have had success with in fm07, It's open for improvement, as I am sure everyone elses is.
But the idea of the forum is to share knowledge and help other improve.
I have never uploaded a tactic on here before, so if someone would like to tell me, I will post it.

No offense but if this tactic got good results with liverpool only then probably its not that "great"
