can someone explain to me what 'sympathise with the players/team' means? i assumed it would be to show understanding towards the team in the fact that although their performance was up to scratch they were simply unlucky on the day. Unfortunately after losing to a sucker punch goal in the 90th minute after dominating the entire game completely, i left a large number of the team angered by using this feedback. am i misunderstanding the impression this comment is supposed to have?
this one is a wierd one for me too but i think it means what you say and the player reaction depends intirely on their personality, for example if you have proffesionals they might not accept this because they think they could have performed better.
lol it means when u are facing a team that u cannot win at all, or are being thrashed, u use 'sympathise with the players/team'. Of cos they will be angered by u for choosing that option when u are dominating, u should choose encourage when u are 1 down and disappointed if u lose by 1 goal
borivoje - that was exactly the meaning I thought it had, it certainly seemed to have the appropriate effect in FM2006.
Not sure what they mean in 2007 though, I left team talks to my ass man after upsetting 3 players by telling them "the pressure was off" when we playing playing Chelsea and media prediction was set up the barricades. I thought this would mean everyone including me expects us to lose, so go out and enjoy the occasion, but the players who listened (why do so many of my team just ignore me when Im dishing out my pearls of wisdom?) were angry and confused at this comment.
u should never touch that option at all, even when u are leeds vs man utd... just use encourage or disappointed as u see fit. Players do not like managers to be actors but motivators =)
i disagree. ive noticed positive effects using the pressure is off one in cup games against bigger opposition. the biggest effect is nervous players feel more relaxed.
