Seeing as these seem to be a hot topic amongst the forum today- I thought it might be worth considering just how intertwined all these factors are.
If we can compile our observations as to how certain personalities of player respond to team-talks and media comments; then perhaps we can start to draw some serious conclusions about team-talks and player motivation utilising media comments.
Different players seem to respond differently to praise, criticism or encouragement- which do you find most effective and why? If your assistant reports "looked delighted" then it generally means your team talks have worked- what did you say to the player, and what is his personality?
If we get enough evidence together then I reckon this could be a pretty worthwhile experiment, as I can't seem to find a good approach to media comments either- when I praise a player it often backfires.

Player Personality and Team-Talks/The Media Post #2
The interesting thing would be to take a player from each personality and run through every team-talk alternative for the same match. Would take a lot of time, but migth be worth it, since a player might respond well to one setting when meeting Barcelona, but react negatively when meeting Yeovil.

Player Personality and Team-Talks/The Media Post #3
I have asked about this subject and about the "opposition instructions" option earlier in these forums but did not get any feedback. First of all, as in the player personalities post of mine, the team talks are open to various interpretations.
E.G. Wish the team good luck. Does this mean good luck! By the gods you are going to need it! Or. Does it mean. Good luck, we've covered all we can so go out and win the game? The other options can also be interpreted in more than one way.
Also, in the "opposition instructions" option I have asked about other managers choices but without any reply. Up to date I have tended to tight mark and close down the strikers. Sometimes close down the central midfielders and put onto weaker foot, the wingers/ left and right midfielders.
Once again other managers opinions would be appreciated. Kind regards.

Sorry!!! I meant to add. Has anyone had any success with having an assistant manager with high man managament and motivation and let him do the team talks? I am trying to find one but am finding it rather difficult.

Exactly what I had in mind- personality, team-talk, response (as you've done in your next post) and perhaps pre-match odds too...?

They are open to amny interpretations indeed- which is why this thread could be useful: perhaps we can find a correlation between responses to different comments from different personalities/circumstances.
Don't really use oppositon instructions myself- perhaps you should start a thread with your own observations?
I think that team talks rely upon you being able to effectively read how your players have interperated the game themselves, and reflect this with your team talk (usually using the final line of commentary before half-time). However, this is just my early guess.
