sorry to slightly hi-jack the thread thunder god i hope you don't mind. but i 2nd jacer on the half time point. ignoring the players at half time often results in them being confused and sometimes even angry. i can understand this, if you're a goal down at half time then as a player you'd be looking to the manager for guidance.

Yeah, agree 100%. Saying nothing at half time is fairly pointless
imo. It may work once in a blue moon but I can't imagine a manager coming into the dressing room, reading the paper and sipping a cup of tea then walking out for the second half

Well you may be right but apparently Wenger hardly says anything to his players at half time in real life and look how well his team does. I also know that Rijkaard does not even go into the dressing room at half time untill their time is almost up and then he says a few words.
Sometimes it can be beneficial not to say anything to players at half time bcos u would have set out your tactics and already said what u wanted to say before the match. Half times are for players to cool off and they should relax after a tough 45 minutes of football.
The other thing is that I have had great success by "Wishing Luck" to the players before a game. It usually works when you are playing against a big team (e.g. I have had great results with Arsenal by wishing the players luck against Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and even Barca).
Hope that clears things up a bit. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I think this might be where this thread is useful. We are bound to get different views on what works for each individual but hopefully, with enough posts, we'll get a clearer overview of team talks and eventually I'll collate them all into a final template.
