for those who are not doing well dont blame the game or si... try something different.

me and a m8 play on network hes spurs which is my team also but i let him have the priveledge and i go to portsmouth weve been doing this since fm 06.

anyways the very first season we ever booted up fm 07 he won the league with spurs, admittedly the big 4 chelsea liverpool arsenal and man utd all had dire seasons. i came 11th.

in the 2nd season he was 16th after 24 games and i was 5th. as was only our first season he made some bad buys that didnt fit with hes tactics combined with a hard starting fixtures...

we started again 24 games in the 2nd season as was only our first test season he was doing misereable with hes teams morale almost all on very poor and i accidently fined a player for dismissal in prior match who wasnt sent off ( clicked wrong player) and ruined my teams morale as all my players turned on me .

so we start again... he comes 3rd in the first season and i came 16th, this time chelsea and man utd have flyin seasons. i basically didnt get a couple of transfers in the our first session and it showed and got off to a miserable 8 straight defeat start. for me i still was enjoying the game... instead of a title challenge or euro spot challenge my challenge was to keep up pompey which i accomplished..was a great feeling.

2nd season and my m8 is storming the league this time buying some different players after season 1. were 28 games in and hes 12 points clear altho chelsea got a couple of games in hand.

im currently in 7th place having a great start and getting djibril cisse on loan from liverpool but losing 3 games in a row then drawing to 3 of the big 4.

berbatov in the first season stormed it with 28 goals in prem in 2nd season hes got 1 goal in 12.. this happens in real life. so my friedn has had to drop him altho he was hes main player in season 1. hes other strikers have grasped the oppertunity and are doing really well.

so stick at it and try to change stuff that isnt working at that time.. is not to say it wont work further down the line but sometimes a change is needed. every manager does this no manager sticks with the same exact tactic in every game, possibly when there winning but not when there losing.

every new seasons you play will be different from the first.

im really liking the new fm 07 its so much harder which was needed especially obtaining free transfers thats been cut down to exactly how it should be. so i also believe they have made all aspects of the game more challenging so 1 tactic fits all wont always work.

remember its not always about the tactics only its about the state of yr players morale. yr media comments ,comments to players. your training also.

The game has zero to do with football knowledge. Only FM game knowledge counts.

I once come across similar situation with one other game.

There was this people who were speaking of how game is "uber realistic, superb, best yet, my thanks to dev team" etc.
On the other hand many people were complaining in a manner "how come this goes against many things I read about this subject, it is unrealisticaly hard" etc.

So dev team made a patch and in this version game was, simply put, easier to control overall.

Guess what? Nobody complained against new patch. Nobody.
Those people who were zealous against people who were whining about hard game were now nowhere to be seen.
Dev team has only received many thanks in forum.

So... it isn't hard to predict what will happen here - I reckon similar scenario.

Everyone is entitled to spoke his mind about game and unless it is spoken in rude/offensive manner I see nothing wrong with that.

After all, games are made for cutomers, players - who are in turn entitled to spoke out their opinions on dedicated game forum. That is one of the reasons why forum exists in the first place.

If there's one thing I enjoy reading, it's people reading things into your posts that aren't there. Witness, if you will, Crazy Horse Legend, who seems to think that the reason I don't like the game is because I can't win. Let the record show (as my posting record also does) that extra complexity and a game that takes some time to master is, fundamentally, a good thing.

However, whilst the complexity has been ramped up, the player's ability to deal with this has not. Fundamentally I want a game whereby I can create tactics and have the instructions carried out on the pitch. This is not FM07 (or 06 for that matter), I have no idea how to translate the style of play I want to see on the pitch into team/player instructions. When I send my team out, and see the manifest problems, I have no idea how to solve them, as everything I try seems to fail.

The most galling aspect of this is that I've provided SI with the solution. Allow the player to see the player/team instructions of the opposition, that way if you see a player doing the types of things that you want your side to do, you can see how it's done. You could even link it to scouting. However, this has not been done.

So, in response to Crazy Horse's venom (and staggering lack of respect to other posters) I (and, doubtless, others like me) are not complaining about not being able to win. We are complaining that we don't know how to win.

To reitterate: vote with your feet. SI have made amazing games in the past, but the series has taken a turn for the worse and is headed in the wrong direction. The only way we (the disgruntled) can change it is by logical argument here, and by not buying the game.

Dark Opus, call it venom if you like, i call it logic, if you don't know how to win/get your players to do what you want (however you want to dress the same thing), yet others (like myself who is by no means a good tactician, i just followed synax's guide) can it does makes you argument flawed.

I only say the things i do as yours and other peoples views of the game being poor don't hold any weight when there are thousands (at a guess) who are enjoying the game and not whinning.

I don't have a lack of respcet, if someone has something worth while to say i'll listen and hand on any tips/knowledge i may have or try to point them to someone who can help. But when they start, as most people complaining here do, with, this game is so crap, i have no time for it, and why should i?

If you can't do something, ask for some help, don't come out with same ol' same ol' 'the games crap', 'the games bugged' etc...

Anyway, can't and don't know how are one and the same, if other people can with EXACTLY the same game, then how is it the game?

I can freely admit this game has bugs, but which games doesn't? And the answer to you ineptitude at this game is not to let you see the opp instructions, you think Wenger walks into the Chelsea dressing room before a match and says to Moan, here's my team and player instruction.

A good peice of advice i was given by synax was watch your first few games with a new tactic in full so you can see exactly where your tactics are going wrong.

If you tried a bit more maybe things would go right, but with the game being out less than a month, crying that you can't get your players to do what you want (yes, that is the same as 'i can't win) when you obviously haven't spent long at it is a bit silly.

There's the odd hole in the above. Firstly, ignoring the complex issues of my argument doesn't hold water. Consider how I am 'dressing the same thing.' Not winning is NOT the same as not being able to have the players do as you want. I want to use a target man that doesn't turn my team into a one trick pony, with two dimensional play. It may not win games, but that is how I want them to play. I may want my full backs to drop a long ball over the back four for my wingers to run onto, again, a covering centre back or a pacy full back may well nullify the tactic. The important thing is that this is how I want to play and I can't fathom how to do it.

You confess that there are other people, beyond me, not enjoying the game. Yet you claim this is an invalid standpoint because other people enjoy it. You are simply chosing to ignore the valid complaints of other people in preference for one the fits your standpoint. You are entitled to your standpoint, and I'm pleased that you have gotten value for money from the product. However, others haven't, and your enjoyment does not make my disgruntlement void.

I have not claimed that the game is bugged beyond that which is the norm. I have, however, expounded at length and constructively about the issues with the game and why I feel it is poor. I have entered into long discourse with other forum members as to how to glean enjoyment (something you presumed I hadn't done). Simply tieing genuine complaints into the "I can't win" moan doesn't hold water when one is clearly not related to the other.

Also, did I not stress that seeing the opposition instructions would be connected to scouting? Rather than popping into the oppositions dressing room to reveal your plans? Please read my posts fully before commenting.

So, as you can see, having your players do as you want is not the same as wanting to win games. I am not alone is disliking the game, yet I have been constructive in my criticism of the game. I have asked for help, I still don't enjoy the game (and yes, I have hit upon a winning formula of P23 W14 D8 L1) as I don't understand why my tactic works. Finally, your lack of respect for other people's views staggers me.

I have tried to create new tactics for FM2007 but it's really frustrating. There are so many sliders that do something but I don't really know what.

Most of the time that I try something new the result is just a chaos: my players hoof the ball every time they get it, my players don't seem to close down the opposite players but instead just let them walk through my defence, my strikers just don't know how to finish but instead shoot wide almost every time they get a wonderful opportunity five metres from the goal. My goalkeeper has specialised on giving the ball to the first opponent he can find no matter what I tell him to do, my free kick taker might pass the ball to the first opponent instead of trying to cross the ball or shoot.

Closing down or not, short passing, direct passing, counter attack or not, most of the time my tactics look exactly the same: nothing works at all.

I won just about every possible thing in FM2006 but even then I didn't really know why some tactics worked and some didn't. I just happened to alter some sliders in the correct way and hey presto, I had a winnig tactic!

It looks like FM2007 is similar to the previous version. And that is very frustrating.

Good point Dorado, people who say "go back to FM2006" have got it a bit wrong. The match engines are very similar, all the problems manifest in '06 are still there in '07. If you don't understand how '07 works, chances are you never understood how '06 worked.
