Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Help!! Leeds in prem..but for how long!?

Iv managed to get Leeds in prem in first season, what a task!! Used 4-3-1-2 with McBride up the top with Agbonlahor, blinding partnership but McBride would'nt re-sign and Agbonlahor was on loan.
Only had 1.4m once promoted so it was back to the free transfers!! Luis Figo, Jaap Stam, Enyeama came in aswell as Adebayor and Lupoli on loan. 4 games in and it doesnt look good, bottom of league and about 1 shot on goal for season!!
Anybody know the best tactic for struggling teams in prem, esp with slower players!?

I'm in a similar situ with my MK Dons. Won League 2 & 1 in consecutive seasons. Now in 3rd season in the Championship. I didn't have alot of money to spend.

And my team is very weak compared to the other sides. I created a very successful 442 tactic for home. Only lost one game last season at home, and drew a couple. It is my away tactic that lets me down.

Im struggling mid table now.

I think you should try a Boltonesque style of play if you have slow players. They are mostly a slow team, and do very well to employ a longball.

So maybe a 4-5-1. Have Adebayor as a target man? You will probably only win 1-0 at best, but a win is a win.

Perhaps at home, be a little more adventurous and have 2 strikers, and have Adebayor as target man again, with Lupoli feeding off his knock downs?

Let me know what you go for. But I shouldn't think you would have problems scoring if you can create the chances. Adebayor is pretty good target man, and Lupoli is an excellent finisher, just need to get him in on goal.

Let me know what you decide to do, and if it works. Im off to work on my away tactic...again

Thanks mate il give it a go, just find my players esp defenders and gk give the ball away alot of the time, getting a tad frustrating seeing as im doing ok'ish until about 75 mins then it falls apart. Players with low condition i tend to bring off but the team are pretty fit yet seem to lack the full 90 min.

P.s Ken Bates is willing to listen to offers for club, lets hope Leeds is a popular holiday destination for rich russians!!

Try setting up your back 4 as very defensive (including fullbacks). A counter attacking style with a targetman should also work best.

I find that you concede less goals in the final stages if you slow your teams tempo down which should give the opposition less opportunities..

If your team are getting tired, it is maybe due to a quick tempo?

Players don't tend to last 90mins at a quick tempo unless they're very fit.

Mayb slow it slow it down in the 2nd half.

Mayb after say 60mins or so, go abit more defensive, if you have the lead, take a striker off, an extra man in midfield to break up their attacks works, and try to keep hold of the ball. Could alwayz time waste in the last few mins too.

Best advice for this game, is to keep trying different things, and see what works best for you

To keep Leeds in the Prem is tough. I got promoted but had no funds for players so it was tough.

Some tips.
Loan Wallcott & Agbonlahor (pace & acc 20), play a narrow formation and counter attack on with deep defence line.

4-1-2-1-2 Formation works well as above with pressing and no target man or playmaker just counter attack.

Good luck!

Oh and judge your comments to press in accordance wiith your 'pre-match odds' for e.g. if your 3-1(fav) say you expect to win in team talks etc.
