I start off unemployed and wait 7 months before taking up the vacant position at the famous Icelandic club...Leiknir Reykjavik.
Leiknir R - 2007 - Icelandic 1st Division
I join with 2 games left and the team in desperate trouble. They are 11th in a 12 team league with the bottom team going down. We need all the support we can get in our last home game from our 200 loyal fans. They go home happy as we stun the 2nd place team 2-0 to confirm safety. We then beat the champions away for our only away win of the season. Easy this Icelandic league! Finished 8th.
Leiknir R - 2008 - Icelandic 1st Division
We start off well and are top after 6 games. Defence is looking solid and we are grinding out the wins. However, a slump after the mid-season break sees us drop to mid-table. Hmmm, maybe not so easy this league after all. A few more players for next season and we'll go up for sure. Finished 7th and starting to get to grips with Icelandic names
Leiknir R - 2009 - Icelandic 1st Division
Confident of promotion this time. We overcome injuries to key players to sit in a promotion spot with 4 games to go. Then we bottle it and lose 3 on the trot! Another disappointing season. Finished 5th. Surely next year
Leiknir R - 2010 - Icelandic 1st Division
A few new players and we were off again. Unlike previous seasons we didn't start off too well. Half way through we were a massive 10 points off promotion. Time to listen to the assman who had kept nagging me about his back-to-back league winning youngsters. A 12 match unbeaten run saw us climb into 2nd spot. We needed to win the last match and duly obliged with a nervy performance. Finished 2nd. Premier division here we come!
