Leagues loaded: Australia, Brazil, China, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, USA - Small Database

Start Unemployed

After waiting patiently for all of 3 days, i apply for an obscure little club in the South African First Division, which is offered to me the day after. I accept a 2 year deal

----------------------------------------

2007/08 Winners Park – South Africa First Division
I was welcomed to Winners Park with the objective of establishing the team in the first division. Fair enough until I saw the squad….

I had absolutely no defenders in to start with, barring youth teamers, so I went about signing a scout and sent him out to find some players ASAP. Manage to scout two aging Zambian defenders from the same local team and also picked up a DM from there who I also appointed captain. I also got extremely lucky in getting a link with one of the top South African sides, The Sundowns, who straight away sent an U21 DC to me who had also been capped at full level for South Africa. The only signing I made were defensive players as I was happy with the squad as a whole, especially a pacey SC with high finishing

As a semi pro club, my training with these player are limited. I brought in a goalkeeping and fitness coach to unburden the work load on the assistant and the coach already in place

The media predicted me an 11th place (out of 16) yet the bookies made me 4th favourite to go up at 2-1. Erm. Despite the 2-1 odds, I went into most matches with odds of 30-1 to get a win! Still, I enjoyed a very successful first season, finishing 6th

First Division: P30 W14 D 4 L12 Pts: 46 Pos: 6th
First Division Cup: 1st round
Top Scorer: Pacey SC with 15 goals
Player of the Season: my AML who scored 9 goals despite me thinking he was pants!

Despite an offer to sign with Woodlands of Singapore, I decided to honour my remaining year with Winners park

----------------------------------------

2008/09 Winners Park – South Africa First Division
All the good I did in the previous year came to a tumbling halt this time round. Two of my previous years signing had deteriorated to utter guff with age and losing my U21 player back to Sundowns was a major loss. I also lost my GK for a whopping 5k. I wanted to reject it but my board intervened, and I could attract a decent enough keeper in so used the previous years back up keeper, who at just 17 wasn’t ready. I managed to make two permanent signing…defenders again! I managed to bring in a pacey AMC on loan from Sundowns too which is a landmark signing – my first attacking player I signed! But at least I had my AML who I thought was trash to rely on

Luckily, there 4 teams in the division who were worse than me and relegation was never really a threat. But climbing above 12th place wasn’t either, which is where we stayed for most of the season

Despite the offer a new 2 year contract, I decided to hop it. Didn’t fancy another season of mediocracy and not being able to entice anything resembling a half decent player, it was fair to say I couldn’t take them any further

First Division: P30 W6 D 7 L7 Pts: 25 Pos: 12th
First Division Cup: 1st round
Top Scorer: AMC with 7 goals
Player of the Season: the AMC with 7 goals.

PS. My AML who fluked the player of the year was rubbish! I knew I was right about him. But at least my Zulu is coming on leaps and bounds

----------------------------------------

After skimming through the available jobs I fancied a stab at Hong Kong and took on the newly promoted HKFC

2009/10 HKFC – Hong Kong First Division
This is a pretty good club to manage. There are ‘sister’ clubs that player in lower tiers of the Hong Kong football pyramid that are all available for selection, and the club is ‘English’. By that, English players are counted as home players. I brought in an English scout to help find me some talent, and I also brought in my Fitness coach and goalkeeping coach from Winners Park. They both quit when I did and felt bad! They’re pretty rubbish but they only want 70 quid a week so no biggy

The squad isn’t THAT bad in comparison to some of the lesser teams in the division. But I bring in some strength all over. I signed 5 players, all English. A GK, DR, DC, AM and my very first ST! aww!

Despite being predicted to be total rubbish and cannon fodder, I have a fantastic season!!! The only team I lost to all season was the eventual league winners, South China, who did the double over me and knocked me out of two of the cups. They didn’t knock me out of the FA cup though, as I beat Happy Valley 6-1…yes 6-1… in the finals. I Suppose having their GK injured with 20 minutes to go while it was 1-1 and they used all their subs helped. Tehehehehe. My ST scored 5 goals in the final, meaning a whopping 27 for season. He won top scorer for the division, finishing on 15. I’m so proud!

First Division: P18 W8 D 8 L2 Pts: 32 Pos: 4th
Senior Shield: Semi Final
League Cup: Semi Final
FA Cup: Winners
Top Scorer: ST with 27 goals
Player of the Season: ST with 27 goals

Whilst preparing for new season with HKFC I had a job offer from the mighty South China. Their manager had just left to take charge of Maritimo in Portugal. hmmmmmmmm
