Default "Its not THAT difficult it is?" or "Its impossible to take a player from europe?"

On my save game I managed to win everything I played last season. My team rep went to Continental(Im playing the Brazilian League) and I got some money to spend. Then I saw that guy, "something Piccolo". With his 20 strenght would be perfect for my 3-6-1. His salary was 8k and he was unhappy about the lack of first team football. His team(cant remember wich one was) had national rep and was on Italy second division. I offered him a Key Player role, with 51k of salary and 2k goal bonuses and a raise of 20% a year. He rejected. Now tell me, he would be receiving like 6 times what he receives on his second division team. Would play on a first division(even it being on Brazil) and would be a Key Player. He decided to stay on the bench in a second divison italian team... Doesnt make sense to me... really

it's league reputation, it's like signing players in scotland, they don't think signing your league would be a good career move, and i think adaptability has something to do with it, determining if they would come or not.

It could be that the league repuatation in the italian second teir is higher than the brazilian first division.

Also, he may not want to go to a foreign country, or he may love his club, or he may be hoping to go to a better team.

There are a number of possible reasons, although i do think IRL a player would go pretty much anywhere for 6 times their wage.

I had an issue, where i offered Bojan 77K p/w for him to decline and sign for barca for 1k p/w. I don't think money is important enough to players in FM, but it's not the biggest of prblems and one i can live with.

But it doesnt seem right. I mean, he is just crap there. His team doesnt want him. It would be great for his career to be a Key Player on a league not THAT obscure(since ppl come here get Pato, Tevez, Ronaldo, Elano, Robinho,...)
Im not saying Scotland league is obscure. But being a Key Player on the best team of a league that ppl watch(maybe not on england or italy, but the managers would be surely watching) can only be good for him. Way better than stay on the reservers team of a second division italy team. IMO

well, maybe there is a explanation to that.
you probably haven't heard of Miki Rapaic, he played in Hajduk Split and went to Italy then belgium, turkey, back to italy...

he is 31 now and without a contract for last 6 months. guy was hoping his favourite team, HAjduk Split, will offer hiim a contract this winter but it didn't happen.
So, now he plays for minnows team Trogir and doesn't want to go anywhere no matter how much you offer him because he wants to live in his birthplace and play for pleasure. He played in croatia team that beat england on 11.10.2006.

In real life his wife might have a good job and kids a good school in the city he plays now in. In addition he probably speaks only Italian, which makes him less keen to move abroad. I wouldn't call it unrealistic at all.

I agree with you blayhod
Of course, its the same if Ronaldo for example go to his favourite club Flamengo. But I have just quoted an example. No one want to leave italy, england and such. The guy in question for example is 23 years old and asked to be on the transfer list. Im the only team interested on him and he still dont come. Another simmilar case I had with Pinga(wich is brazilian, thus breaking the idea of foreign country) he asked first-team and after some time asked to be put on transfer list. I managed to offer him a little more than what he was getting and he refused. After some weeks he stated on press that he would consider a move to my team if it was to play first team football. I offered a contract to him again and he didnt want it. He preffered to stay until the end of his contract in his club(wich he had a status of "not necessary") and became a free agent. I offered him again, but at that time there were like 10 teams offering contracts and he acepted going to a netherlands team for half the salary I was paying. He was also "rotation" there...
Is this out of europephobia??

It sounds realistic to me, when do you see an Italian playing in Brazil in real life?

Grosshaus
if that was the case I would be very happy with the game. Actually I would love to hear that from the player. The point is, he asked to be put on transfer list, and is unhappy with his actual job. If he asked it, it would mean that he is considering a move. Ok, maybe its because its another country and such. But take the Pinga's case. He is Brazilian an probably have family there. So... I think this feature is bit too exagerated IMO
