How many of each player in each position is it good to have? i have a 22 man 1st team squad (one in each position). i also have at least one other player (either in the reserves or as a secondary position for a first teamer) who can play in every position. is this enough? too much? just about right? wot size squad to others use?

I usually go for 2 players in every defensive position, meaning 4 good centre halves and 4 full backs. Then I have around 10 midfielders and usually 5 strikers, but often 4. So 22 outfield plus 2 goalkeepers.

To be honest though as long as you have cover in each position and everyone is happy your squad could be 50 players, its just down to your judgement really.

how do you keep all of your players happy? is it just a case of rotating them around?

Pretty much yes. When someone plays badly (ie less than 7) they get dropped. If a striker plays 2 games without scoring hes dropped. And the defenders for me are always getting knocks so I never usually have a problem. But if you find a player getting unhappy just play him for a few games until he stops moaning!
