I've just got Bittorent and downloaded the PC version. I started a new game on FM but it still says 8.0.
Tell me if I've done something wrong.

Have you tried running the patch installer that you downloaded?

double click downloaded file, whenit comes up just click update and it will do all the work.

find where you downloaded it and double click the icon, it will ask to extact the patch, do this and it will start replacing the files.

Done!
