When is the best time to change a players squad status with the least chance of upsetting them?
Right now all my players just left on vacation and I have been thinking of redoing all my squads status' to reflect the current status at the club to make it easier for me to select my first xi, and maybe generate transfer interest in some of my players.
Also when I sign a new player that I know will take over the starting role, should I immediately change the former starting players squad status? What do you do?
I do mine twice a season. Once, the day before the transfer window opens in the summer. The second time, the day before the transfer window opens in mid-season.
Yes EmFries, iv not really thought about this but it make's sense that you should wait until the end of season to change player status, but i'd also think player's personality will come in here somewhere, Determined and profesional players will be less likely to complain whereas ambitious players i would expect to kick a fuss up.So i would look at there personality's before i change squad status mid-season.
i try not to change mine unless there is lots of media fuss, it generally always causes problems with morale and sometimes you can keep players happy with some first team action.
Just tried a little test, at the start of June. I went through my team and changed most of the squad statuses.
Players that didn't break into the first xi got rotation status, while all my best players got first team with the exception of some weak starters who got rotation whom i hope to replace with new signings anyways. Plus a few Key players.
After all this I had 7 players with slight concerns that manager doesnt appreciate contribution to team. For the most part they were younger players as well as players with slightly less desirable personalities. But I did have 2 veteran strikers with these concerns... strangely enough my two highest paid forwards who both lost their job to my up and coming 20 year old.
