Don't go near Football Manager if your trying to quit smoking!
I'm on my 5th day of no smoking, I was playing a career game, currently in the Blue Sq Premier with FC United( edited them in to the game).
My first season was fantastic and the second seson was ging terrific up till Christmas! Top of the league 8 points on top of the league, League 2 football looking like a real possibility.
So I decide to quit smoking during the week and ever since FC united have gone to the dogs! Losing left right and centre. I've had to stop playing cause evry time I lose I automatically start looking for my smokes!
So I've had to quit smoking and Football Manager( for the moment!)

Boooo. You should never quit both. Quit smoking sure, never quit FM. It'll be the end of you. You'll start relating anything you can to FM..
Imagine it.... You're in the pub with your mates, there 9 of you.
Your sat round the table, but a guy you really like to chat to is on the other side... you begin thinking...
"If I was manager of this pub table, I'd put him over there, because he a much more "oiled entertainer", I'd have him over by me, as we work well together, and that funny bloke that just sits with us can go on the end, a real individual performer"
(/not-so-funny simile)

The Mrs doesn't let me smoke in the house so I have only ever tasted a victory smoke when my team have been winning comfortably at half time and I can exchange watching the second half with damaging my lungs.

Immediately: violent tendencies after a loss and obsessive compulsive behaviours will stop.
After one week: your eye-sight will return to normal.
After two weeks: your RSI will start to ease.
After one month: you may venture outdoors other than for work purposes. Colour of skin and circulation should improve.
After 6 months: you may have the beginnings of a social life. General fitness may have improved.
After 12 months: your blood pressure might have returned to normal
After 2 years: you might go on a date
After 5 years: you might have a girlfriend
So in short, after 5 years, you're in a much less enjoyable position than if you'd have kept playin!
Hehe
Unfortunately, your real life budget will be overspent because you'll be scouting the lovers in the pubs instead of the next wonderkid regen in the youth leagues....

Nicotine Patches were my savior. Cheaper and just as effective mood modifiers as cigs. I've been on them for 5+ years. Remember, nicotine is good for you; it improves blood oxygen uptake and improves short-term memory. Here in the States there is some indication that it can delay the onset of Alzheimers.
