A successful 3-4-3 - Fact or Fiction? Post #1 | | Newb

I'm looking at moving towards this formation (from 3-1-4-2) in my 3rd season, but can't find any consistent information about where to head with this tactic.
Can anyone offer any suggestions for the following questions?
- 2 Forwards & 1 Targetmen or 2 Targetmen and 1 Forward?
- Arrows?
- Mentality & Creativity?
- Passing style & Tempo?
- Pressing & DLine?
- 2 DMs or 2 CMs with Barrows?
- Wide midfielders or wingers?

I'm leaning towards the following
---FC--TM--FC---
---|--------|---
----------------
ML--CM---CM---MR
----|-----|-----
----------------
---CD--CD--CD---
CM & Defense sitting deep, defensive.
ML & MR medium mentality
FC & TM attacking
direct passing, counter attacking
Should I played with target man enabled, or just a player in that position?
Focus passing though the middle, or mixed?
Does anyone have any comments or experience with 3-4-3?

I should probably add that I need some sort of confirmation that this tactic can work, before I re-model my squad in the off-season, and possibly ruin all the good work I've had so far.
I'm playing with Villa in the EPL, and have had a successful first season, and mediocre 2nd season.

I'm after 343 advice, not 433?

Personally, I would use wing-backs instead of wingers, as two of the front three will be providing the attacking width in the way you set it up. This way you would be less vulnerable to counter attacks. I do hope you have pacey CDs!
One of the CMs should probably have a fair degree of creative freedom, you may want to keep this one a little narrow too, but focus passing down the flanks so the wingers/forwards can get into the attack. And I wouldnt suggest long "farrows" either, unless you have really hardworking flankmen.
FM 2007 seems harder than previous versions, I'm not sure if you can make this one work, but where there's a will, there's a way. Lemme know how it goes! |

About to head into the new season in the next couple of days, so just seeing if anyone wants to make any comments before I embark on a 3-4-3 for season 3.
Have been reading with interest the comments from rashidi in TT&F 07 and his development of a new ScramJet, do you have any pointers mate?

If you want to build a 343, you will need the right players, and its best to use targetment in front

How very cryptic...
Can I at least ask if you've had more success with a shorter or more direct style of play?
