Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default A Thank You & A Question

A quick thank you to you pros on here that have helped me with the "individual settings" and how that had impacted my team, i was struggling in league two with Dag & Red but this has really improved my perormance and im now 7th.

Essentially its making the team play as i had originally asked them with with "team" settings.

...now a question for those same people. I have been a tad naughty and used the FM scout to find some players with nice high potential abilities but low current ones, on free transfer.

I have signed them and they are in my squad. What is the best way to get them up nearer to their potential ability. Let them play reserve footy? the odd sub appearance in the first team? Seperate training schedule?

Thanks in advance.

Up the Daggers

p.s just knocked southampton out in the carling cup one nil away...

:-)

Remember that most player never fulfil their potential. For this you need a good training schedule aswell as a bit of luck.

Loaning them out is a good option, but only if they are going to play games. If not you loan them out and thwey dont improve much.

However what I like to do is, use them in cup games and give them the odd league game and use them as subs. It helps them by having them involved with my first team I feel and gives them the experience they need.

Thanks Cleon, i have them listed for loan, so hopefully they will get picked up on.

I didnt think about the fact that lots of players irl dont hit their potential, makes sense now you say it.

Being in League two, the cups are a big source of revenue so i cant really afford to rotate that much.

Sub appearances is something i will do. I will also look into a training schedule.

Do you reccomend a seperate one for them?

Hmm what ages are the players? If there over 17 then create one tailored for them. Nothing too streneous though but something nice and steady.

Also it might be a good diea to give them matches in the games where a result doesn't matter too much then. You know like at end of a season where you might be top of league and resulst don't matter, or mid table and they dont matter. I use the players in these type of games.

Yes most of them are between 17-20... i will look into a tailored training session and to play them where i can.

I guess that reserve team football isnt sufficient then.... shame.

Reserve team can be a good experience, but they wont learn much 1st experience like that. Players don't need much first team expeirence btw, just odd match heer and there, should be enough to aid development of players.
