Searching for a lower/midtable team tactic ? you may want to try this
Hi guys. Reading the tactics forum these last few weeks I noticed that most of the “killer tactics” created by people are only tested on world club teams (Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool……) don’t get me wrong, anyone can chose whatever club they like, but I’m not used managing high rep clubs and I’m pretty sure that most people enjoy taking a newly-promoted team or a LL team to European glory.
So, I decided to try to create my own tactic for medium-small clubs, but since I’m no tactical genius I also followed some tips from WWfan’s guide, and from other threads in this forum.
Btw my tactic WILL NOT make your team win the FA cup with a conference team; WILL NOT get you promoted from conference to premiership in 5 consecutive years; WILL NOT win all your games, even if you are playing Chelsea. Why ? because whatever people say, it’s impossible to do that without replaying some games. It’s impossible (at one moment) not to have 4-5 injured/suspended first team players, and it’s impossible not having some terrible bad luck in at least 1-2-3 games/season.
Having said that, let’s get to the facts:
Basically there are 2 tactics: one to use in away games and/or against teams that are better than yours (or when you are trying to defend the lead) and one to use in games that you are supposed to attack from the beginning of the match. It’s very important to use the proper tactic against the proper opposition.
Other important things to know: You need at least one decent striker and one decent centre-back (with some experience if possible). The striker should have at least 18 finishing (if you play in the first league, or less if you play in a lower league) and decent heading/jumping attributes. I don’t know why, but it seems to me that the RS (right sticker) is always getting more opportunities then the LS (left sticker)…so it would be a good idea to put your best striker in the right slot (not left).
My achievements with this tactic? Well….I only tested this tactic on two teams:
1)Newly promoted “U Criaova” (Romanian first division). In the first season I only tested these tactics, constantly tweaking them, and used the final version of these tactics in the last 4-5 games of the season, so my results are not so great: 14th place in the league and won the Romanian Cup (gained European qualification this way). In the second season I transferred some players and only used these two tactics. I finished 3rd, one point behind the second placed team (and also, one point away from European champions cup qualification). I also reached the uefa cup quarter finals where I was eliminated in a penalty shootout (after H:2-0; A:0-2) by fellow countrymen Dinamo Bucharest (bad, bad luck). I admit that in the second season I transferred some good players to my team, but as you will see in the Atalanta part of testing it’s not just the players.
2)Newly promoted Atalanta (Italian serie A). Note that the atalanta game is a multiplayer game that I play with two buddies. I only transfered 2 players: cardenas and another backup player. Unfortunately, I only tested the tactic in just 8 games with atalanta, but it has provided some good results (except for the last game where I was trashed Away: 0-4 against second placed team Sampdoria.
Finally I’d like to thank all of those who will test my tactic (I’m very interested on how will it work on lower league clubs) and also all of those who have constantly posted hints, guides etc on this forum. Also if you have some suggestion for one on my tactics or if you just feel the need to say that my tactics are *rap feel free to do that (but please mention why do you think that), and hopefully I’ll improve them.
Btw these tactics where also tested in the "Quick Tactic Test 2007 For Those In Search Of Succes" thread and had some decent results (3rd place from a total of 12 tested tactics) but I don't know how relevant thoes results are (since the testing team was ...Arsenal)
I Would like to hear some feed-back about these two tactics.
Yep... it seems to me that if you don’t put false words like “killer, greatest, mega, super, kick ass” in the thread title nobody is going to test your tactic …… oh well…..good luck ppl

The stats from the testing thread do bear out that your tactics have a good goal conversion rate, and if that is the case, then these should be good tactics as well.
Perhaps you can let me know from which area of the pitch most of the shots come from?

Sure; since there are two tactics there are also two situations:
With the home tactic most of my goals come from crosses in the box (that’s why I recommended people to use a striker with decent heading/jumping ability)
With the away tactic most of the goals are scored when my striker(s) achieves a one on one opportunity with the opposition GK (that’s why I recommended people to use a striker with a decent finishing attribute…and maybe even flair/composure)

my goal is to improve the tactic based on the feed-back that I get on this thread. I don't care about how many times the tactic has been downloaded.
Btw the tactic was uploaded 4 days ago, so....
