It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default FM 2007 tactic tests

Hi, as you can see, I am back with the new tactic tests thread. Well, I wasn't thinking of doing this again to be honest. The reason of doing this sort of test again is, well, when I started playing FM2007, I have been using tactics created by myself and downloaded tactics, which most of them are reckoned as the best around. However, I couldn't have a successful season by using these tactics on my Norwich team. That's why I started to do this tests again.

As you may read my old tactic test thread, you would know my method to test the tactics. However, as the FM download centre change the upload structure, therefore I think I would not upload the starting save file but would not upload the test result files. I will, however, post all the test screen shot on here to let people know how these tactics doing in the test.

I would like to start on the Barca domination created by masee, and the 4-4-2 Flabarama LatestExtreme created by Flabarama, and the team I would start would be Man City, as I think Man City is an average team in the English Premier league and the tactic used would definitely influence their results.

As in the old tacitc tests, I would test each of the tactic three times and build a tactic results league. Tactic test request is welcome, but mind you I am always busy so I can't say when I can finish each of the test, I will try my best anyway.

For those of you would like to involved, the testing method is easy, the instruction is just copy from my old thread:

Start file: Man City start file

testing method

1. Download the start file

2. Download the tactic you would like to test and save it in "My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2007\tactics"

3. Start game and load the save file

4. Change the tactic to the tactic you would like to test (go to tactic, and choose the saved tactic from the "Archeive tactic")

5. Go to "manager" and choose "go to holiday", and remember to tick "use the current tactic" in the window, then choose the day to return. For me, I just choose the day after the season last fixture.

6. That's it, just let it run and wait for the results. Please test each tactic for three times (three first seasons), which can test the consistancy of the tactic, and remember to give a report to this thread!!!

Freedom for testing

Anyone can join this project, and you can choose to test just one of the tactic, or test all of the tactics, it's really up to you, just remember to make a post to let people know you are going to help and what tactic/team you are going to test.

Thanks for your help

I think that's it just now, by the way, in my old thread, I've been starting to test tactics in different leagues, like the German, Italian and the Spanish league. Do you think I should do this in this test too? Or just focus on the English premier league? Thanks a lot, and please feel free to get involved in this test.

alexlmlo,

I like the kind of test that you do. Although many people will not agree with this, esp for this version of football manager. More so because we will be missing out on the interesting and important media interaction.

Having said that, I will certainly try and help out with this.

And so, after downloading the file..I wish to ask: The date in the game is from March onwards (might be wrong). So the file that you have uploaded; when does it begin from?

Cheers.

How long does it take to finish a season that way?

Hi, thanks for your word. The save file for Man City is for English premier league game, so it start from July 2006. What you have to do is select a tactic for your team, and choose go on holiday, and set the return date to 08/05/2007, that's the last match day for Man City.

It depends how fast your computer is. My one is a 1 year old PC, with intel 3.4 GHz CPU and 2GB RAM, which need around 1 hour to run the whole season.

By the way, I am going to test these tactics on other leagues too, I will post the save files for these league in my next test report. Thanks.

Nice idea, but how do we know how the tactic can be improved, if were not watching the matches. What do you hope to get out of this experiment?

Well, good point, and as I am not that good in tactic, I can't just watch the match and tell you guys how the tactics work on these teams. However, due to the fact that fmdownload centre changed the upload structure, I can't really upload all the save files onto there.

The only thing I could do is let you guys know the results, and let you guys try it out on your own team.

Thanks.
