I've actually had a decent time, tactically, with this game, unlike last year's edition. Slider adjustments seem to result in more visible changes, and the tactical engine appears more rooted in common sense. However, there is one scenario in which I always struggle. When the opposition, in a flat 442 (or a 442 with the MR and ML on short f-arrows) drops the MCd with a b-arrow, I dramatically lose any advantage in possession. I could be up 65-35 and finish the game 40-60, such is the effect of this device.
I've tried several different techniques to ameliorate this problem, but none seem to have any effect. Among them, I have upped closing down on one or both of my central midfielders (I generally also play a 442), slowed tempo, dropped mentality, shortened passing for the midfield, focused play up the flanks, and dropped a forward into the AM C hole to cover the space occupied by the opposition's MCd. I've tried all of these either alone or in combination with each other, and I've additionally experimented with marking the MCd with either a central midfielder or a withdrawn forward. Nothing seems to work, and the opposition continues to gobble up the possession meter. Has anyone else had any trouble with this tactic, or does anyone have a way to bypass the resulting advantage of a team dropping a b-arrow on a central midfielder?
Apologies if this has been addressed in a larger thread - I perused them all casually, but found nothing addressing this specific issue.
