I've been with an Italian C2 outfit with good players, playing 3 Backs, 2 Very Offensive Wingers, 1 AMC + 1 DM on MC-positions, 1 AMC, and 2 FC's. Defensive and Counter-Attack Mentality.
1st season: Media prediction: 1st > Champ.
2nd season: Media prediction: mid-table > Champ.
3rd season: Media prediction: last > Spot below playoffs.
I've been playing same tactic, with slight tweaks all through, as I've been moving up in leagues, didn't find any reason for major changes.
In 3rd season, with 8 games left top-half pos. secured, and possibility to reach play-offs (which I didn't want, as I need to accumulate more money to be able to avoid relegation in higher serie), I aired my back-up players and those who moaned about lack of 1st Team play.
This is where I start getting snarky remarks from the media about sticking to same tactic, and fans want to see other tactic as well.
I didn't change anything, but didn't make many points in those last games (which was par with my strategy), but I'm not sure whether it has mostly to do with airing lesser players, or other teams' counter-tactics.
For the upcoming season I've promised a top-half position, and have tried some other tactic, but the one I used to play with are still best suited for my team, both regarding player>position, and ass man's report.
I'm weakest in def.line., and the ass.man. lets me know this when trying certain tactics. In another tactic, he reports that "the predatory instincts of (a striker) could pose a lethal threat...". However, this gives me few options for midfield. I basically want to play with 2 forwards, as I need to give those I have match time on a regular basis.
If I make enough money, I'll be trying to move up this season, if not I'll be looking to win in cups to accumulate mo' money.
Therefore I'd appreciate tips on whether I should change/tweak my tactics, or stick to the tried.
