Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Natural AMR vs accomplished MR

A lot of my wingers are natural attacking midfielders (AMR&AML), and only accomplished "non-attacking" midfielders (MR&ML). Would it make sense for me to set my tactics to use the AMR position instead of MR, or will a farrow on my MR do the same thing?

And if I want to use MR instead of AMR, will a weaker player who is a natural MR be better suited for the job than a stronger AMR who is only "accomplished" on this position.

I hope my question makes sense to at least someone out there.

To me, it isn't of any significance. Normally, good players will do well enough in that particular role/position as long as he is "accomplished".

It does not matter if they are accomplished or natural in a position. You can play a central MC as central DC if he got the attributes..

I did a quick test where Gattuso played as DC in 4 games and he got 7 and 8's.

Actually playing a player out of position can matter. He won't perform as good in an accomplished position as he would his natural one. He's more prone to making mistakes, regardless of what stats he has.

Does make a difference as Cleon mentioned, but at lower levels, you can get away with it more, so long as the player is pretty decent anyway.

I'll personally always try to get "natural" players in each position, or players who are "natural" in more than one position.

Wingers and right midfielders seem to be fairly similar in stats requirement and if he's accomplished at MR and natural at AMR it shouldn't be an issue. If a natural MR would be better it would be so slight it wouldn't matter
