i have a confession to make, ive ranted on this forum. shocking i know, but it doesn't get you anywhere. half the community pat you on the back in quiet sympathy, the other half call you a senseless noob and tell you that you're useless at the game.

so while im waiting for 8.0.2 to come and rescue me from my little 'problem', i would like to ask for some help by issuing a challenge.

I'm currently managing Coventry City and my general achievement goes a bit like this. 80-1 expected to avoid safety but not do too well, i end up usually around 10th which isn't bad. The issue seems to be that i create loads of chances but fail to finish, and my pathetic defense allow my opposition to dispatch a large ratio of their relatively few chances. so better finishing, and a tighter defense are a must.

2nd season, with stronger defenders and a new striker, considered 50, 25, or even 16-1, finish in the same place, with the same defensive issues and strikers being wasteful and also usually being offered the chance to resign.

tried lots of different tactics and combinations (testing them out over long periods with different players), mostly involving different formations, players, tempos, defensive depths responsive to my defence pace and opposition pace, mentality, trying offside trap, changing the closing down of certain players, limiting or giving creative freedom, trying tight marking, playmakers, target men, focusing my passing, trying counter attack. generally alterations in all these departments seem to be ending in the same result over the first 2 seasons for me.

so if anyone has a tactic that works with coventry give me some advice to counter my problem that'd be cool.

please don't suggest managing someone else, coventry are the team i support and that really motivates me to want to do that whole epic days of euro glory thing i used to do in prior versions. also i feel that i wouldn't be learning anything by just giving up.

Stop asking for tactics, I've told you once already. If it happens again you'll be carded. Don't create another thread exactly the same if the first one as been closed. Please read the forum rules.

If it's advice you want then repost but list the settings you are currently trying and be as detailed as possible.
