My biggest problem in FM08 is setting up both my strikers. I feel this has been covered to a certain extent but hasn’t been fully covered.
The problem is there are many things to consider when setting up your strikers and knowing what to set for what kind of player and even take into consideration what kind of Team Mentality you may be using (Defend, Counter, Balanced, Attack, Control). Would you have to consider what kind of players are partnering each other as well or should it just be dependant on the player himself.
Example:
Creative forward who drops deep with a pacey striker who plays on the shoulder. Would this be a typical set up?
There would be lots of things to consider but what if one of the players got injured and your next best striker was a strong Target Man, how would he be introduced??
You can also try adding free role to creative forward, or giving them high creative freedom. Also, don't havw your creative forward on too high closing down, he will be all over the place otherwise. I would have the striker closing down, the forward on mixed
I mix it up a bit. I like pacey strikers so their setups are pretty similar.
However, as I play defensively and counterattack, I recently noticed how far back my strikers come so now I make sure one is setup as attacking (about 3/4 of the bar full) so there's always a high man (even more important if I change to wingers and a centre forward).
And I ALWAYS have my strikers setup to swap positions
Thanks guys. If my Creative Forward was to get injured my next Striker is a slow strong Target Man. How would you set him up? I'm never sure whether to keep using the other Striker as the TM or the strong Striker.
Strong centre forward as target man with 'hold up ball' ticked?
And consider what option you're using for target man supply. For your pacey striker, either to feet or into space but strong centre forward to head or to feet

I would have the targetman at higher mentality and forward runs at mixed, and then have the quick striker at lower mentality but with forward runs at often.
