I've never played as Fulham, but knowing the players I suppose I could make a few recommendations:
Fulham has a poor squad. Most teams in the league have atleast one star player in their ranks. Sunderland have Gordon, Derby have Barnes etc. Fulham have none I dont think.
But saying that, I suppose you should hold on to the following players as they'll come in handy:
Niemi (probably the best player at Fulham)
Volz (good RB)
Kamara (pacey and good dribbler)
Healy (decent striker)
Dempsey (decent stats all round)
Bullard (good player when fit)
I suppose you could add John, Konchesky, Davies & Davis as well if you wish. But might be stretching it a bit there. I'd say get rid of the rest for sure. Hold on to the above players because like I said, they'll come in handy at some point.
As for signings, start looking up players for practically every position I suppose. I dont know what your budget is like so cant recommend a whole lot. But I'll start you off anyway:
Your aim should be to shore up the defence first. If you can have a good defence, it'll help you get some valuable points in places where you didnt think you'll get anything. So look to invest here first.
As for the attack:
DM : Zola (400K?)
AMC: Piatti (400K), Marin (300K), Dzsudzsak (500K?)
ST : Mauro Zarate (3M), Bogdan Stancu (600K), Eastwood (3M)
I think those signings should beef up your midfield a lot. Piatti plays well on the left wing and Marin on the right wing. So you can put them there if needed. I'd recommend getting a good striker like Zarate if possible because quite often he'll win/draw you games on his own like he did for my Derby side.
I reckon these signings will atleast give you a good chance of finishing in a respectable position. Just try to play on the counter against stronger teams (which is most of them!) and pack your midfield with players. The advantage of getting some of the players I mentioned above is that next season you'll probably be getting good bids for them and can sell them on for good cash and invest the money to strengthen your squad more. For eg, after 1 season at Derby, Piatti was attracting bids of 15M+. And that would have increased if I'd negotiated.
Look up the thread "The Unmentionables" by Barnetboyz. You'll find mentions of some great cheap signings there. Will help a lot. Good luck.
Came 5th as Fulham, so I'll add a helping hand here.
Your strikers are fine, Healy and McBride are decent enough first season, and Kamara is a legend on the left wing. Volz is a pretty good right back, and Niemi is cool in goal. That's it.
In the middle of the park, I loaned Mathieu Flamini (DM) and Yoann Gourcuff (AM) who were great. Right wing, you should buy someone. I got Gustavo Valera who wasn't great, you can do better.
In defence, I highly recommend you buy the excellent Christopher Samba as a centre back. Can't remember the other CB, might even have kept someone. You could do with a left back as well, Gonzalo Pineda was great for me.
im in my 3rd season with fulham cnt bear to be anyone but the team thats in my blood!
first season i kept hold of all the players and signed dszudzak, aaritalo and also brought lulinha (comes in second season)and ignesavich and i loaned in flamini and gourcouf sp? oh and sign zarate hes immense!
kamara does well but doesnt seem to score many goals so in second season i sold him for a staggering 9million to lazio and i also sold davis for 5 milion and davies for 3.5 so gave me plenty of money to speand
brought in breno, banega, and enyeama along with lulinha of corse and i ended up 4th in the league and won the euro cup (came runners up in fa cup first season)
3rd season in the only players i have left from the startin squad are
niemi - gettin on but still top quality
volz - quality
konchesky - lost his place to wendel at beginnin on 3rd
dempsey - scores and creates loads on the right
