i am considering downloading the patch to try it out......but will this patch override all my other 8.0.1 saves?
becausse if i dont like it, i dont want it wrecking my long term game

If you revert to 8.01 any games saved in 8.02 will not be compatible as far as I know.

For example if you have a save game that was last played on 8.01 with the game date at 16th June 2012. If you load that game with 8.02 and continue that save game past that date, saving with the same filename then it will not load if you revert back to 8.01.

If you want to freeze your current save then open it in 8.02 but immediately save it under a different file name. This way your original save compatible with 8.01 will exist at the point in time, 16th june 2012.
