alright folks, i'm a recent convert to fm (was always a cm player, have now seen the error of my ways!). got fm08 and all has been going well, however i was unaware of the errors, and patches that were out to fix them. As a result i've suffered with my celtic game and this league fixtures issue that others on here have experienced too (where league fixtures dont update in the next season, so all you have are euro games.). totally gutted at this as my team were flying! grrr!

I'm looking advice on two fronts -
1. is my celtic game goosed or can i install a patch to fix the issue and continue playing? or will i need to start again?

2. is installing a patch a simple task or does it require any tinkering with program files or anything?

any help is much appreciated.

Hey, welcome to the game!

1. I think your Celtic game is wrecked. Sorry.

In the "Too late to help" category, note that you can at least minimize the chances of anything game-wrecking by using the "Rolling Auto-Save" option. This will create several backup copies of your save game as you go along. For example, if my save game is "Amaroq.fm", it'll make files named "AmaroqV2.fm" and "AmaroqV3.fm". I strongly recommend that you turn that feature on in future!

If you've already got that option on, you're a lucky man - you should be able to load one of the older versions of your save, before the fixture problem occurs, and proceed from there.

2. Installing a patch is a super simple task. Download the patch. Run the patch. Follow the directions.

1. yes the no fixtures in second season in Scotland is fixed based on the changelist not my experience. I don't know if it will work retroactively but I would hazard a guess that it would if the save game you start hasn't already passed the date at which fixtures for the season are generated.

2. Go to the link at the top of this page and use one of the mirrors at the bottom of miles' first post, don't use the torrents if you are like me and don't know what a torrent is and have no desire to learn. Download this to to your computer, double click the file when it is finished and bob's your mother's sister . It will autmatically do everything that is needed so you just need to start FM as you normally do and it will be version 8.02.

No, you're not a fool, I learned that lesson the hard way myself. I think my first post on forum was "The power went out while I was saving FM.. Is there any way to get my save game back?"

Years later, and its still gutting to think about.
