Probably a very simple answer, but I'm going to risk asking anyway...

When I printed the patch list, it was 24 pages long. Are these patch list changes in response to 8.01 version or to the original 8.0 version?

The patch change list should list the changes made with 8.02. And then after that a section labeled 8.01 will be listed.

If you have 8.0.0 (Original game)
and patch to 8.0.2 straight you will have the exact same game as someone who has:

8.0.0
Patches to 8.0.1
Then patches to 8.0.2

There is no difference.

Well there is a slight difference, in that you won't have the 8.0.1 database.
