Default I want to keep playing my old 8.01 game and install the patch for 8.02. Can I still play my old game?
I am playing a game with Man Utd which I am enjoying. I don't get to play the game as much as I would like anymore, I want to keep playing my old 8.01 game and install the patch for 8.02. Can I still play my old game and will the fixes work

Engine fixes work immediately. Some other fixes will kick in the beginning of your first 'new' saeson.

But, yes, you can continue your save

Is it worth installing the patch so then?. And some other fixes will only kick in when I start a new game . Correct?

Also, player transfers, naturally, wont happen unless you begin an new game.

When a new game is started with 8.0.2 does it start in July 2007 as some of the transfers won't have taken place until Jan 2008. This is something about the game I don't like. If the game starts in July all transfers in Jan 2008 should be future transfers in my opinion. Is this the case?

Yeah i understand your point, but in the patch all the transfers are as from July 07
