This is completely untrue. All patches are save game compatible. It's recommended that you start a brand new game to get the full benefits of the patch, but in now way stops you carrying on a game started on a previous patch.

I'm now many years into my game as manager of Sheffield Wednesday. We've been through many changes.
When I first started, all that was expected was for me to keep the club in the Championship, improve financies and obtain promotion within a few years.
Now, I'm expected to win the charity shield, win the Premiership, reach the final of the FA Cup, reach the final of the League Cup, win the European Super Cup and reach the semi final of the Champions League.
Every time I lose a game now, I expect the sack. It's not happened yet, but I can feel the board are poised with their knife. I just lost on penalties in the quarter final of the FA cup to Coventry. Even the fans are even wondering if I am losing my magical ablity (or something like that). I'm still on course for everything else but the press are stirring things up of course.

It's amazing how quickly expectations can change and how the great work of a manager can be forgotten.
Regarding the original post, that really sucks and I hope you make them suffer for it. This will be my goal, I'm still in the job, yet starting to get bitter about the board. I'm already planning my revenge.

I have to say I find this quite bizarre. Yes, I know that the boards long term expectations need fixing and so on and I myself have been victim of this seriously flawed new feature, being shown the door by Newcastle for failing to win the premier league by the end of their two year plan despite winning it 3 times since the plan was proposed and the ECL each season as well. However I'm currently taking up Dafuge's Challenge as Hitchin and after promoting them from the BSS to the BSP and winning the FA Trophy in my first season, being sent straight back down the next and now looking to come back up to the BSP this season (loan team again) my reputation is regional. By all accounts the OP performed better than I did in his job, yet remains unproven
