Funnily enough Derby are the overachievers in my FM08 game, and I'm only in season 2, although in my game there strikers are Rade Prica and Omar Bravo.
The underperformers are Newcastle and Liverpool both loitering around the relegation zone.

Yeah iv'e noticed that about Liverpool, what is it with them?
They're always fine on my game - in fact they've been my EPL bogey team since fm06
But tbf, they are underachieving in the Premier League irl too. And considering the hype, expectation, transfer funds, wages and players they are probably second only to Newcastle for league underachievement. (Although Newcastle did have a couple of promising league campaigns in the 90s).

Yeah but when we say they are underachieving in our games, we mean they are fighting relegation or maybe few places above relegation. So nothing like IRL
Derby was an overachiever in one of my FM07 games. Finished top four for two seasons consecutive. I had a transfer budget of about $500million, so I bought a player from them for about half that for fun, just to give them a monetary boost to keep them competitive and in the top of the league.
The next season they dropped back to mid-table and then FM08 came out.
In my current game, Spurs has dropped a league, but once the patch comes out, I am starting fresh.
