I'm newcastle utd and Jose Enrique is always nervous about the teams we are about to play even though everyone else is really fired up, is there anything i can do to stop this or give him more confidence?

Probably not a lot - you might like to give him a little boost in team talks.

Not sure if I am to be honest. However in my experience is that if your always, giving praise all the time is actually to give them a kick up the back side and expect a performance from them.

But there are lots of factors to take into consideration if the player is new, from the youths or brought in. The saying no pressure from the get go helps.

Tell your gonna give them a rest, and actually rest them, complain about there performance name and shame 'em, hell you could warn them.

It depends if your sticking to pattern with that player, then suprise them.

Also it maybe the media comments, all of them, stay out of the media for a while. Or praise another manager or say you hate another manager they/he may feel not as pressured/in the media eye. As there gonna talk about some other team.

You can't stop how he reacts to your pre match comments. Certain personality types will be consistent in how they respond and basically if he has always responded like this in the past he always will in the future.

It is their hidden attributes which determine this reponse and the only way to change them is to tutor a player when they are young.

You could stop responding to pre match questions from the media but in doing this you will lose the benefit of firing up your other players. You need to judge your squad as a whole and decide if the positives of your chosen response will outweigh the negatives.

You can counteract this nervousness by selecting a pre match team talk to achieve this such as 'I have faith in your ability' or 'no pressure' or 'you can win today'.
