What's the best offer you've had for someone who's not exactly a wordl beater?
I'm playing as Newcastle and Portsmouth offered me £17.25million for James Milner. Like i said to the missus, i'd drive him there myself for that much.
Funnily enough at the end of the season the signing of Milner was voted the worst of the year!
I sold a striker who was terrible and I had no use for in my first team for £20m to Sheffield Wednesday (equivalent to their entire cumulative transfer spending for the previous 15 years).
He payed almost every match for them, scored 1 goal for them (in march) and they got relegated.
In FM05 I got half a million as Rhusden manager for a midfeilder called Gary Mills. He had a great season, but only seemed to be able to preform that will be one particular system, and if anyone remembers FM05, if you played one system for too long (around 20 games) it seemed to stop working. His stats were also genuinly mediocre apart from some ridiclously high passing stat. Only played few times for Plymouth and bought him back at the end of the next season for 26K. I'd love to say he immeditly recovered his world beating form, but he has awful until well after I'd departed as manager.
I was messing around and transferred Beckham to my Real Zaragoza for 25+ million Euros, but that's with a pretty decent transfer budget of over 50 million Euros leftover.
I sold Nicola Legrottaglie while Juventus manager from Juventus to a Serie B team. He was 32 and worth around £500k, but I managed to negotiate just over £4m in installments for him. To be fair, he would've been a good player at that level but I reckon if I'd carried on the game (had to stop, curse you SI!) it would've bankrupted them eventually.
He may not be mediocre, but on FM07, I got offered £9million for a 39-year-old Edwin van der Sar. I didn't take it, though. You'll call me crazy, but I knew I'd be happier with him in my squad, and I hoped to make him a goalkeeping coach (which, sadly, never came off).
route1....spot on mate, i did this with soo many players, i was so neive back there, i can imagine many forums posters complaining daily about how easily exploited it was, i have a feeling it was fm 06 or 07 that defencive mids were alwaysy 8's out of 10
