Did you pre-set any of his stats?

It'll work best if you use the stat ranges (-1,-2 etc) as well. I can't remember what the ranges are exactly though.

I think it should work if you set all stats to 0, PA to 200 and ability to something like 60.

Try putting his CA to 0, and PA to 200.

Then, set his absolute attributes (the ones that don't change as their CA rises) to 20- determination, for example.
