Rep Power: 0 | Question about tactics
I can't understand anything about the tactics in this version.
I've made me own, I've downloaded all the top ones here, minimal fuss, RoT, Barca domination, etc etc. And they all work *****, no matter the tweakings. Actually, the only thing that has worked _ok_ is the fm06 barca domination, where there were no individual player settings!?? As soon as I downloaded the 07 version it started going even worse, with struggling to get a draw in most matches, the ones I dont outright lose.
And please, no response about going in to change them right after kickoff. 1: I've tried it and 2: I cant be bothered setting up my tactics twice for every match anyway.

Well, wont go that far, just think it weird that taking any "generic" tactic withoutindividual settings and doing better than one that has been tweaked and set up properly, etc.

I thikn with '07 you really need to set a tactic for your squad. As opposed to having a tactic and trying to get players to play it.
For example if you have a pacey striker, who can run, have him running with the ball and making foward runs. If he gets injured, and you don't have a similar player to fill his boots, you can't expect a peter crouch target man to be trying to dribble at the defense, he'll just fall over.
What works for me best, is to have a formation, set the team instructions, but then alter individual instructions depending who is playing.
Good luck with that you do though

Quite simply, it's about empirical observation, as it always was. Something doesn't work for you, but does for the AI.
Response One: SI have programmed the AI to cheat. If you want to think that way, go ahead, but it is a load of balls!
Response Two: Download someone else's tactic and see if that works. Repeat until satisfied.
Response Three: What is the AI doing that my team isn't and how can I reproduce it. Test a few ideas out such as changing forward runs, hold up ball etc and see if you can reproduce a similar style of play as the AI. Once you have it right, tweak it so it is better than the AI's. Play with a huge smile on your face as the little dots start doing what you want them to.
Response Four: Stop playing the game and play something easier, as you can't be bothered to a) work it out or b) read through the long threads written by those who have/are trying to.
My solution is Response Three, and it is the most fun of the four. The others are valid (except for One, which is pathetic) and offer you two solutions that can solve your frustrations. My reading is that as you can't be bothered to tweak tactics in game, you certainly can't be bothered to try Response Three. Therefore, your only solution is to try Two (which doesn't seem to work for you) or Four. 'Nuff said and problem solved.
Oh, and Fun_nick's post is very valid, should you wish to try Response Three.
Sorry if I sound harsh, but it's all about common sense!
Best of luck should you choose to employ Response Three. There are many on here who will help you to unravel the tactical conundrum that is FM07.

| Once you figure things out..you'll end up only needing 2 tactics...a defensive and an offensive tactic...and then you'll want to experiment more..perhaps try out different tactics...
I have to admit, it may not be as easy as CM3 or CM4...but it won't take you too long to figure things out....it looked a bit daunting for me when the demo came out, but the more I get into it the easier it seems to be.

| I think you need to re-read my posts.
I am, and have been, trying to tweak my tactics, and loads of downloaded ones. The thing I can't be bothered doing is starting a match, click tactics right away and change some little tidbit, as has been suggested in various "Am I on to something" threads, as I find it a bothersome and senseless solution.
Another thing I find weird is that I have more success (or a lesser lack thereof) with generic tactics that come with the game which have no individual settings, than I have with any "super" tactics gotten off here, or my own tweaked tactics.
I might have a weird 4-3-3 that works, kinda, now though.

The reason generic tactics work better to begin with, is because you are not over comlicating things like a lot of us do from time to time.
And ive never stared a game either and clicked tactics instantly, you can set up before a game. It only takes me about 30 seconds to change whats needed.

Sorry if my reply seemed off. I was a little frustrated with various things at the time, and another 'complaining' thread seemed a good place to let off some steam. Sorry if I offended.
For others that whinge in GQ, my points are still valid though |

I've tried to pick up on the things in the various threads for helping, and had some help from our phillipine friend, but if anything it's made my tactics worse.
I can't seem to make anything work now, and not really sure how to attack it.
