Well, I do't use target man when playing at home, since my tactic is more 4-3-3 than 4-5-1 when playing at home and I want to the striker to play along with the AM L/R wingers with forward runs in the attack, with the support of the AMC.
While using my away tactic, since it's more dependant on counter-strike and the wingers are in the M L/R positions with full runs to the attack, I set the striker to be my target man, so the players can try to pass him the ball as quickly as possible to take full advantage of the counter-attack, either by allowing the striker to run for goal or to hold the ball and allow the wingers to catch up.
