i'm letting in too many goals with a back three. It seems quite effective when you use two wingbacks but here i want my wingers on the ML and MR positions. Any tips?
Otherwise I've got a defmid with an arrow pointing to the DMC position and they do a good job with that.
Also, early on i found it necessary to give my Def the least possible creativity possible, to avoid them losing the ball on bad passes, resulting in counterattacks that more often than not go in.
3-5-2 is an attacking formation so you will concede more goals.
As your DMC is dropping back you could sarrow your two wide DC's to the full-back areas - but inevitably you will be more stretched in defence as you only have four players with a defensive mentality (and six with an attacking mentality).
Thanks for that. I’m using wb with arrows as that seems to be the most balanced way to use a back three. I also use a three man midfield. I find that a AMC circle becomes redundant if you’re using a wide game, so I’ve got 1 dmc and 2 mc’s, one with arrows to the AML or R position, depending on the player’s capacity. Its pretty sweet. I’ll upload what I’m doing soon I hope.
(this forum doesn't get much action, eh?)
anyhow, i've been using the 352 for some time now..
(on a side trip, i really appreciate in manager_profile you now really see what your preferred formation really is, instead of always having 442)
i have the players line up 3 in the DMC area, all 5 on the MC area and 2 in the FW area.
The DMC have two arrows pointing to the wings, their mentality is really defensive and the _least_ amount of creativity possible, to avoid getting countless goals because of horrendous passes.
Very important, the
with the tall forwards i prefer using tall man small man combination, especially for away games, and the tall fellow as the target man. (Especially being that i'm playing in... Sweden.) The tall one has forward runs, crossing never. The small man has more creativity, less offensive mental settings, frd runs and the rest on mixed.
with the midfield, you need two defensive midfielders with arrows pointing to the DMC position, passing short, through balls. The middle man has an arrow pointing to the AMC position and behaves as one, with fwrd runs, run with ball, through ball. he's the guy that comes in the second wave to slot in the rebound.
the wingers are on run with ball and cross ball, but i'm still looking at the arrows, the best results i get are a) no arrows b) arrows all the way to the FW position. I'm still trying out combinations with the fwrd run option.
the system is based around the 5+5 concept: five attack, five defend.
about the "Very important, the..." and then nothing bit in my previous post, i wanted to write:
you need the defensive line slider to be on the first notch of "deep" and _not_ normal, in order to avoid the countless long ball counter attacks that more often than not lead to a goal.
i always play back 3 either 3-5-2 or 3-4-3. My 3-5-2 has wing backs and 1 DMC with 2 AMC's and 2forwards with no arrows, this works quite well if your playing against a defensive team as it means you can attack with six. My 3-4-3 has 2 DMC's 2MC's with sarrows to ML and MR, and 3CF's with the side ones with darrows to AMC, i find this tactic better on the counterattack
