Hi there.
I was hoping to start a discussion about using a Playmaker and a Targetman in the same tactic.
- Is it possible?
- Are there any setbacks?
- Wich instructions would work the better?
- Have you ever tried it? What were your results?
Now, I've read that a targetman would narrow your offensive choices, as the ball is always played to him up front. The same goes to the playmaker, because your team always plays through him. So, I'd assume that a targetman and a playmaker would be contradicting instructions, because one would put the other out of the match.
IRL I believe it would work, because the playmaker would work the midfield and offensive play, and the targetman would be the 'end' of it.
Just imagine Barcelona with Ronaldinho and Eto'o, or Juve (last year) with Nedved and Ibrahimovic, or even Inter with Figo and Adriano.
Theoretically it could be perfect. One builds the play, puts in that creative touch, and the other finishes or assists a second striker.
Regarding instructions, if your playmaker has 'Through Passes' on 'Often', and you have a targetman, could I assume that he would try those through balls to your targetman? And what about if you have 'Targetman Suply' to 'Run onto Ball', would it work in conjuction with the playmaker's through passes?
What I don't know, and haven't come to a conclusion, is how it works in FM2007.
I'm hoping to receive some feedback on this, and maybe start a nice discussion.
I'm sorry for my English, I try the best
Best regards,
Ivo
