What are the pro's and con's of the various options
Tight Marking
Closing Down
Tackling
Show Onto Foot
and under what circumstances would you use one or the other?
Also, if there a way of making a specific defender man mark a specific striker? I ask because I want to put my quickest defender against a pacy striker but cannot figure out how to acheive that.
i'm not sure about the opposition instructions myself....show onto foot?????
man-mark - go to individual player instructions - marking - specific and a list of opponents pops up.
Show onto foot would instruct your men to actually allow the opposition player the time and/or pace to pass/shoot on the foot you specify (that's the duh part). Now, this won't be too clever if you try it on, say, Nedved or Sneijder who can kill you with either peg. I usually only do this to really one-footed players like Roberto Carlos, etc.
Also, it would be a good idea if the opposition player has the "avoids using weaker foot" move, I guess.

D'oh. I dunno how I missed that! Thanks </BLOCKQUOTE>
I wouldnt reccomend specific man marking it is horribly bugged( since FM2005! ). As soon as the opposition changes tactic or makes a substitution you will be in all sorts of trouble.

Yes, whenever i manmark a striker most of the times he scores, at least once.
I was about to start a thread on this subject when i saw this one. I've experienced that not giving any instructions is way better for my side, but i'm really not sure about it.
Anyone have some clues?
