No. Defensive line affects the position the players take up - both WITH and WITHOUT possession.
If your team uses a defensive mentality, a defensive setting on this D-Line slider will ensure they stay deep when the rest of your team attacks. If your team uses an attacking mentality, the effect of the D-Line slider is lessened and players will advance - although a deeper line will see them err on the side of caution a little more.
High defensive lines are prone to fast attacks. Deep defensive lines allows the opposition to play possession football more and also allows them to play to a large target man.
