Okay, so we have all theses threads about who's the greatest players to sign and how brilliant they are, and who their most magnificent signing who scored 60 goals in a season is. BUT, you hardly ever hear about the players that people sign who turn out to be a complete mistake and be utterly awful. Everyone makes mistakes, perhaps unless they're using FM Scout that is!
My personal worst one was signing Cesc Fabregas for £64m as Juventus. Looks to be brilliant, but CMs in general on the game don't appear to work as well as AMs/DMs and he was no exception. Scored 2 in a season, admittedly made a fair few assists, but an average rating of 6.63 doesn't really cut it for me at that price! So, what's yours?
Signed Amauri at start of season 2 for Milan and he was terrible all season. Can't remember the exact stats but i've never bought him again, even though a lot of people rate him. Maybe I wasn't using him properly.
In Championship Manager 2000/2001 I signed an Australian defender called Simon Colosimo from a now 'extinct' club in Australia called Carlton for 20million.
My national pride got the better of me i have to admit. I was young and foolish...(as opposed to being old and foolish now).
5million on Marlon King in o8' was also a monumental waste of money in my Wigan game. He's scored 2 league goals in 14 games so far...Couldn't kick over a sausage that bloke...
