Hey guys am new to the sigames forum and I thought I would start with a controversial idea for the next FM game, my idea centre arounds that hot topic in football – a sporting director

Where you can request a new feeder club or a new contract, why not be able to request a sporting director.

“Livepool manager James Bond has today gone to the owners of the club and requested a sporting director to be appointed to the club, he has recommended Gerard houllier”

if you are the manager of clubs like Liverpool Middlesborough Arsenal the board may ask you if you want a sporting director and you can say either yes or no or if you are managing clubs like Tottenham Chelsea Portsmouth they might not even ask you and appoint someone, you could also get different statements for them such as

“ New sporting director Tony Adams has informed you that owner Roman Abramovich is not happy with the latest performances and wants to the team to play with more attacking intent”

“ New sporting director Tony Adams has informed you that after a meeting with the board they have recommended that you buy lionel Messi to improve the teams fortunes”


You may be able to interact with the sporting director and be able to ask him about players or how to improve the club, I am not totally sure what sporting directors do so if you fellow sigamers know you could give us some more hints, really like to hear feedback on this idea

Great idea I think. Even go as far as the chairman may appoint sporting director to control transfer dealings. Obviously if they try to do this you could issue ultimatums etc... It's true too life though - just ask Martin Jol!

I like the idea especially as I do manage in Spain & Italy regulary where such an arrangement is common place.

I think you will find that this has been discussed failrly often under the title of Director of Football- have a seasrch and read some of the other threads

i think it wud be good to be able to request someone, maybe a friend etc, i wud go for monchi at sevilla as he is the one whose brought a lot of good players to the club

This has definitly been brought up before but I like your approach to it, I don't like the idea that a technical director controls transfers, I think thats a bad idea that would only complicate things.

In a previous post the SI guys have said they appreciate ideas early. makes sense really no point everyone going the month before fm09 comes up how about this and that, etc.
