What will happen if I have a player looking forward to the next match (PR icon), but I don't include him on the squad (or alternatively: bench him but don't play him)? Will it affect his morale (or personal relationship with me)? Is this even factored into the game at all...

On an alternate note: the PR'ed players always seem to be my most used ones. Have you seen less-played players gets fired up?

I'm pretty certain it is just a morale modifier so when they are fired-up they often have superb morale. If you don't play them then their morale will naturaly drop a little as with any player not picked, but I doubt the "fired up" reaction has any further effect.
