In Fm2006 editor:

- Can you create new nationalities and nations? And new flags for them?

- Can you make an existing secondary nationality to main? (and play as a basque manager for example, and amnaging a basque selection)

- Can you make new languages?
It's very important because there are languages not in the game like catalan, spoken by 12 millions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_language) coofficial in Spain, and official in Andorra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andorra). In fact, I've read in the forums that Andorra's regens don't speak it, and is the only official language there. So, related to this would be assign the new languages to countries/clubs (Andorra, FC Barcelona)

I think bringing in Catalan would be opening a whole can of worms. There are such things as the variations of Catalan, which are large considering its area of use (small).

Assigning a language to a club is currently not possible if I remember correctly.

Right... So... In the FM 2006 Editor:

You cannot create new nationalities (which is tied in with nations).

You can create additional languages for a player but that language must be pre-existing.

You cannot create new languages. You cannot rename existing languages either.

Sorry. You'll have to petition SI for the inclusion of the Catalan language.

Dear sirs of SIGAMES,

I'm an user and buyer of your manager games. I'm about to buy Football Manager 2006, after getting playing last years in CM4, but there's a repetitive problem in your really good simulation of the different information: the languages, and in my case, the Catalan language.

Catalan is a romanic language (derived from Latin, that's it), as are spanish, french, italian and others. As these, it has aproximately a thousand years of spoken and written story (more information in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_language , for instance). It's cooficial in Spain (the Catalonia autonomous region, and the only official language in the independent country of Andorra (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andorra ). It's also spoken, officially or not, in other places, like the Languedoc-Rousillon region in France.

To achieve a realistic simulation of the real situation, as you did with the inclusion of the basque nationality for Ath. Bilbao and Real Sociedad policies, you should include the catalan language in your database, and associate it to players of Andorra, and to players of catalan clubs (FC Barcelona, Espanyol...), at least the regens. I also think than basque and galician languages should be in the database, although my petition is for my language - catalan.

If you need help with a list of catalan-speaking clubs/players, I could help - and I think some users of the groups also could.

Finally, you should think that the ICANN has recently approved the .cat domain, a three-letters cultural domain (not a politic one) that will host all pages related to catalan culture (including, not restricted to, the catalan language). So, now the catalan culture and language it's Internet-official. You mention here that Catalan is the co-official language of Spain. This isn't actually true though, is it? Just a co-official language of the Basque region and Andorra.

I personally would not put Catalan into the game as Welsh is currently not in there either. The language serves no real purpose just as Gaelic doesn't either.

The only purpose that adding Catalan to the game is that Andorra (not a playable league) can have Catalan as its official language.

If that's the case, then why not add in Welsh (which, incidentally IS the official language of its country? Or Gaelic and Scots? Or Latin? Or Esperanto? Or... Well, I'm being cycnical here.

But I think to add Basque as a nationality for players is going a bit too far. It's not even a UN recognised nation for a start. Having its own domain is nothing amazing. The Cook Islands also have one. Although whoever would want a .co.ck address is beyond me...

Basque nationality is acceptable as some clubs will only sign players from that region.

Catalan is the official labguage of Catalunya (along with Spanish). Basque is the official language of the Basque region in Spain (along with Spanish) and Galician is the official language of Galicia (along with Spanish).
