It works just fine, but you may have the skin cached without the images you want, or you may not have copied the config.xml file as well as the images. There are literally several threads on this subject in the graphics & skinning forum which may be helpful to you.

Most of them will work, although some won't work as they did in FM 2005 (Arsenal home for example). You will need to make sure Skin Cache is OFF to see any newly added graphics.
There is a solution to this in the Graphics forum.
