Default Data Editor Crashes

If the PC is being restarted then this is because it's overheating. The editor uses a lot of processing power, so it seems that your machine is being shut down due to a heat issue.

How much RAM do you have?

Have you edited anything in the db yet?

You can just delete the Harchester file (or uncheck it in the program options).

Generally a crash and immediate restart is a symptom of overheating in your computer. Buying a new pc is not necessarily the right option but investing in some heat extraction units is.

I don't get too involved in the hardware side of things when it comes to computers so I can advise you specifically on it.

For a temporary solution, you could leave the cover off of the side of the unit and run the editor. If it still crashes but takes longer, then you'll probably need a fan or coolant. If it doesn't crash, still buy a heat extractor as you should never leave the cover open for extended periods of time (dust contamination, mice, spiders and all that).

To stop Harchester affecting your game you actually need to keep the files and keep the options checked, perversely (since it's in the db anyway and the *dt files make it a fake team).

Oh, the fun that seems to have caused so many people.
