will I be able to just copy over and use my edited FM05 files in FM06? i am referring here to database files. i have done some editing that I don't want to lose. has the database structure been changed? it does not look like it.

I don't think they will work, since in previous versions you couldn't use older database files in a newer game.

There are new attributes such as year founded (club), and height and weight (player), so I'd say no chance.

You are correct. Also gender is added to the database.

What is the reason for Gender being added to the database?
Will there be a Womens League Functionality or will you be able to add yer mum to your favourite team and the like, without it saying
"Veronica Ridgeley had a great game for ------,
HE played a great game and scored two spectacular goals"

Maybe you can't use FM2005 data files to create a new game.

But you can use them for the Gold Demo. I have copied the lang_db.dat file from FM2005 to FM2006 so I have the correct club and league names..

lang_db.dat contains only strings. If you use the FM2005 version of that then you'll be missing some strings, so I really don't recommend it. Just make the same changes again.

I believe person gender and height/weight were already there last year. The actual database format being different won't matter, because the game will realise which version/format of the data is being loaded. The real problems (that will cause the game to not work) will be that there are different numbers of teams in different leagues now, or things missing/added that the FM2006 game code expects to be there or not to be there. Therefore you definately shouldn't use an FM2005 database.

If I remember correctly, height and weight was in last years game but all values were 0.
