I have just won the champions league and spanish league in my first season as Madrid with a successful 442 tactic.
I am worrying that the ai will adapt to this tactic in the second season as teams already seemed to be cutting the supply off to my target man Miroslav Klose.
I have heard rumours on here that by simply changing the name of the tactic will stop the ai from countering it successfully. Has anybody found this to be true or simply a false rumour?
I think it may be possible as the game's ai may store the tactic in its memory based on its name and renaming it may confuse the ai into thinking it's a completely different tactic. I don't want to risk putting this theory to the test unless someone else has had success with it.
So what do you think should I completely rehash my tactic or just rename it?
BTW Sorry if this is off topic but my transfer budget for this season is £81 million but I have had £71 million bids rejected for Terry, Gerrard, Messi, C.Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, Robben. Is this normal or do you have to go through the process of unsettling big name players by declaring interest in this game. They all are interested but the clubs just won't let them go. Any advice?
If I recall correctly Asmodeus suggested that but I think he had done it in previous games and had not tried it on this version.
You might as well give it a go. You have nothing to lose and if you like your tactic and don't want to change then it might be a good thing to try.
As for your off topic question, most of those players you mentioned are super hard to get away from their clubs. Unless you feel comfortable with cheating your best bet is to look elsewhere for cheaper players who will still be what you are looking for.
It was me and Buxton who renamed them, and it always seemed to work for us. Thats not to say its true though, but it never let me down I've not done it on FM07 though cos I change instructiosn game by game so doesnt make a difference for me.
A lot of the time I've not bothered to name a tactic until I'm reasonably sure it's pretty good, and as soon as I have given it a name the good form goes out the window.

The tactic that I use was downloaded from here from a topic that was named something like 'Unbeaten' where the author talked about going a whole season with Atletico unbeaten with a formation that relies on a target man.
I tried it for my Real Madrid side first season with Klose as my target man and it won me the Spanish League and Champs Cup. The only thing I altered each game was the lineup of players. Klose scored over 50 goals overall for me!
I'm not bragging bacause its not my tactic but it was simply brilliant. I am just worried if the AI will suss me out in the second season or not.
When you talk about changing the tactic name do you mean from inside the game ie by going to the save tactic and changing the name from there or changing the actual name of the file from outside the game interface?
I think by simply changing the tactic name within the game should be sufficient. Let us know if it works.
As for the "Supertactic" in this version of the game a, and no disrespect intended, there is no such thing.
Why?
Ok he give you his tactic which is built around his player presumably however when you start using it with your players they have completely different skills.
The tactic may work for you but unless you are changing your players individual instructions they are basically playing to the strengths of his players and not yours.
For example his striker might be good at passing and yours not. So if he has that player on through balls often it works for him but your player will give the ball away more. Therefore you need to modify his tactic to suit your own players. And once you have done that it is no longer the same tactic.
The things you need to change in regard to your players is through balls, runs with ball, long shots, crosses ball and makes forward runs. You need to look at your players individually and see whether they can do these or not.
You also need to look at their creative freedom and add that to the equation.
