It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Help with my Newcastle tactics

Hi, i hope that someone could maybe help me out with my newcastle tactic. My current one is either win or loose, and seems to be playing equal with the biggest teams, like chelsea, man utd ect. but when i face the smaller teams i end up in trouble.

Im playing 4-4-2 with farrows halfway on the wingers and on one midfielder ocassionally at home venues.

Mentality 2 notches left defensive
Creative freedom ; my defenders have little if none, as my farrow midfielder have 4-5 notches right same with my wingers and my attackers have almost maxed freedom.
Passing style is direct 5 right notches
Tempo is quick 5 right notches
Width is normal , middle
Closing down middle, my midfielders are closing down alot, my defenders are not and 1 of my strikers are also closing down quit alot.
Defensive line is deep , as almost all teams have quick strikers. 6 notches left.
Tackling is normal for all.
Passing is focused down both flanks
Zonal marking
No target man supply as i tried to use martins as target man but that didnt work , at least for not for me
I only use counter attack, no tight marking, playmaker or offside.

Does this make any sense? Im not sure what else to add, or if the newcastle players are good enough to cope with such tactic.
Im trying to close down the midfield opponments and it seems to work good against better teams. but smaller teams outplay me alot. tell me what more i should add for information. ANY help would be highly appriciated.

I mix the passing instead of focusing down the wing. Unless you have bought a good RW I don't think Newcastle have one good enough.

I would lose the counter attack. Having our defence absorb any pressure is not a good idea because of our awful defence.

I'm struggling with Newcastle also, so keep plugging away and let me know how it goes!!

Direct high tempo passing down flanks doesn't work, as there is no one to pass the ball to unless your wingers are Linford Christie and Johne Regis. Focus through the middle if you are going to try this style of play, either using Martins as a TM Run onto Ball (FWRS high), or Ameobi to Head (FWrs rarely).

Sibierski is brilliant in this game. Scored 40 goals in all competitions in the first season for me.

It seems that good headers of the ball will score bucketfull of goals in this version, when used properly of course.
